Pet of the Week

rufusEvery week Have a Heart Pet Shelter would like to showcase some of our
adoptable pets. This week’s dog is Rufus. Are you looking for a forever
friend? This very sweet, 1-2 year old guy was sadly found abandoned alone
in the country this summer. He seems to be a Labrador Retriever/Hound mix,
weighing 65 pounds. His foster mom has found him to be smart, athletic,
outgoing and good natured with people. Rufus also gets along well with
horses, cats, and other dogs. He’s housebroken, walks on a leash, rides in
the car, knows “Sit” & “No”, and comes when called and just wants to be
with and please his person in every way. Though quiet, he’s a good “alert”
dog, barking if there’s a disturbance. Already neutered, vaccinated,
strong and healthy, his favorite pastimes are fetching things, Tug of War,
playing in the water and chewing his Booda toys- though he’s not past
sneaking up on the sofa and lying on his back for a comfy snooze
afterward! Rufus is ready to find his fur-ever home. Stop by and meet
Rufus and some of our other animals. They would love to meet you and would
appreciate the attention. Hopefully next month we will be able to resume
featuring an adoptable cat every week.
We have had a fairly good response for our shoe collection. We will
continue to accept gently used shoes which will be sent to people in need.
In return the shelter receives funds for every pair of shoes donated. This
would be a good time to clean out the closet and help the fur babies with
your unwanted shoes. The shelter’s thrift store will also accept other
merchandise for donation, but we do not accept clothing. Stop by and
check out the thrift store. There are many nice items that are reasonably
priced, and all the money goes to help the animals. Another great way to
help our shelter is by donating directly through our website,
www.haveaheartpetshelter.org Click on the donation tab near the top of
the page. After that there is a button on the lower left that you can
click and then donate through Paypal. You can also get a lot of other
shelter information on the website. There is info about our shoe donation
going on now through November 1st. There is a link for donating Kuranda
dog beds. You can view our adoptable animals. There is a wish list showing
some of the items we need for day to day operations. You can also help the
shelter by liking our Facebook page and liking and sharing posts to help
get the word out. Check it out!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth at Bridge Bash. We appreciate
your support. We hope to see y’all at Turkey Trot in Yellville on October
7th and 8th.
The shelter is in need of volunteers to walk dogs and help teach them
basic commands. Dog walking times are 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily. The shelter
is located at 4291 E. Highway 62 in Flippin (across from Ozark Realty).
Shelter hours are 9-3 Monday through Friday, closed Saturday and Sunday.
Phone 870-449-7387. We finally have a shelter in Marion County. Let’s make
it work. Spay, neuter, adopt, donate, volunteer.
