Pets Of The Week

Pets of the Week

Each week Have a Heart Pet Shelter features a couple of their adoptable pets. Our Kitty Tawny gets the top spot this week.  Affectionate Tawny is a perfect little warm brown tabby boy with mackerel striping. Born mid-March, he’s currently 6 months old and as cute as can be. He’s a sweet natured boy, healthy, outgoing, curious and playful with our other kitties and will be a medium size cat when grown. Tawny is healthy and up to date on all vaccines and ready for his new home.

This week’s featured dog is Lucy. Lovely Lucy is a 7 month old German Shepherd mix.   She is still small at only 22 lbs, and definitely hugely mixed with several other breeds. Her tan markings are mostly brindled and she’s very attractive with a bright white patch on her chest. Her big puppy ears are trying valiantly to stand up on their own when she’s attentive. Lucy’s a sweetheart of a pup, loving, good natured with everyone as well as other dogs and willing to please. She’s had no training, but does walk nicely on leash. Lucy was an unclaimed stray from Yellville Animal Control. She will make a great companion if you can take the time to teach her what she needs to know. Stop by the Shelter to meet Tawny, Lucy and our other adoptable animals. You can also shop the thrift store for some great bargains.

One of my neighbors called me the other evening to say that there were 5 puppies dumped by his house. Shame on whoever chose to do this. If the perpetrator had spayed their dog, like a responsible pet owner would do, they wouldn’t have to dump the unwanted puppies. Luckily, these pups found their way to Have a Heart and they will get the love and care that they need. You can see the pups on our Facebook page. I wish I could get one of them, but my other 3 fur-kids told me “No way, Mom”.

Last week we finished registering for the November Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. The original 3 dates filled so quickly that we contacted the vet who performs the surgeries and were able to add a fourth day to the Clinic. All the available spots have been filled. Thanks to all the responsible pet owners who are doing the right thing and sterilizing their pets. Hopefully this will slow the never ending stream of unwanted cats and dogs. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 9am to 3 pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
