Pets of the Week

Each week Have a Heart Pet Shelter features a couple of our adoptable pets with the hope of finding them a fur-ever home. Before we get to the pets for this week, I want to mention that the past week was one of the best for adoptions. We had 6 dogs and 5 cats adopted last week. Thanks to the families who opened their hearts and homes and gave these fur babies a chance for the home life they deserve.  It would be great if we could accomplish those numbers every week. Sugar is our featured dog for this week. Sugar’s name fits her perfectly; she’s sweet as can be! Sugar is healthy 1 year old Collie mix, weighing about 35 lbs. She is active, attentive and light on her feet.  She’s a very agile young girl. Sugar is super personable, outgoing and friendly with everyone. She’s quiet in her kennel, and she walks well on leash. Sugar definitely knows the “Sit” command, especially if you have a treat to reward her.  She is very smart and infinitely trainable as you wish. She needs someone to take some time with her and she will reward you with love and devotion. If you need some “sweetness” in your life, come by the Shelter to meet Sugar.

Harley is our featured kitty this week. Her name, Harley, is short for Harlequin, since she likes reading romance novels while sipping Pinot Noir. Harley is a sweet, beautiful dilute Tortie who is so happy when someone pets her.  She arrived at the shelter June 28th as a stray from Cotter. Harley is a bit timid and would probably do best in a quiet home. She’s shy at first, but does love to be petted and snuggled. She has a deep throaty mee-oww. If you’re looking for a quiet girl to sit and chill out with you, she would be a purr-fect pet.

Don’t forget the upcoming Soup and Chili dinner and fund raiser on November 17th from 5- 8 p.m. at Madden Auction House on 14th Street in Summit. You can get a great meal of soups, chili, corn bread, beverage and dessert for $7.00. There will be a pie auction and music by Rio. If you like to cook, you can help us out by baking cookies, brownies or other sweets for the dessert table. We will also need pies or cakes for the auction. Baked items can be dropped off at Madden’s Auction House after 2:00 pm on Nov. 17th.  Tickets are available at the Shelter or at the door. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville.
