Pet Of The Week

Pets of the Week

Each week Have a Heart Pet Shelter likes to feature a couple of our lovable pets who are looking for a permanent home. Our featured cat for the week is Angelica. She is a beautiful gray kitty with yellow eyes and resembles the Chartreux breed. Her age is estimated to be about 1 year. Angelica arrived at the shelter on January 23rd as a stray from Fulton County. She is very sweet and loving, always wanting to be held and she will follow you around.  She does chase birds, so if you are a bird watcher she would need to be an inside cat. Stop by the Shelter to meet this pretty girl or any of our other adoptable cats and kittens.

We are not featuring a specific dog this week. The dog we planned to feature came to us as a stray, but his owners located him at the Shelter and took him home. We have other adoptable dogs but they have not yet been spayed or neutered, so we will feature them when they are ready to be adopted. In other Shelter news, we sent 12 puppies and 4 adult dogs to the Humane Society of Missouri in St. Louis. We feel all our dogs are highly adoptable, but we just do not have enough people wanting to adopt. Therefore, we made the decision to give them a better chance for finding their Fur-ever homes. With the freed up space we were able to take in some new dogs off the waiting list and those from Animal Control in Yellville and Bull Shoals who have run out of time and are in jeopardy of being euthanized. We have beautiful, sweet dogs. If you are looking for a four legged member for your family, please adopt from a Shelter.

Can you believe it is almost time for the first 2019 Spay & Neuter Clinic? The Clinic is scheduled for April 9th through the 11th. Registration is scheduled for Friday February 15th and Saturday February 16th at the Shelter from 10 am to 2 pm and you must register in person.  At this time, we do have some funds for financial aid, so if you are at the Federal Poverty Level (you can find the level on the internet if you Google it), bring proof of income and be prepared to complete a financial aid application form. The Clinic is open to the public and registration requires a $15.00 deposit per animal. The cost for cats is $50.00, dogs under 75 pounds are $75.00 and over 75 pounds $85.00. The cost includes a rabies shot. If your pet already had their rabies shot your cost will be $5.00 less, but you must bring the rabies certificate. (The tag is not acceptable.) If you qualify for financial aid the cost will be $15.00 per animal. Number of animals receiving financial aid is limited to 2 dogs or 3 cats per household per calendar year.  If you have questions, please call the Shelter at 870-449-7387. We have discontinued the Spay & Neuter phone number to save money so we can help more animals. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 9 am to 3 pm.
