This handsome guy is Shadow. He’s a Border Collie mix and about 1 ½ years old. Border Collies are known for their high energy and good temperament and Shadow is the perfect example of those traits.
He has a wonderful personality and gets along well with other dogs. Shadow came to our Shelter after wandering on to a local ranch and was in danger of being shot by the ranch owner. A visit to the vet revealed that he was already suffering from a previous gunshot wound to his leg and in need of medical care.
We’re happy to report that Shadow has fully recovered and is ready to find his furever home. He is house trained and walks well on a leash. He weighs around 55 pounds and is a bit taller than an average Border Collie.
Shadow would love room to run. A large fenced yard or a farm to keep him busy would make him very happy.

This week’s featured cat is Clarice. She was found in a mobile home park, looking for food for her babies. One of the residents was trying to feed her but was threatened with eviction if he did not get rid of them. We had a little bit of room so we were able to take them into the Shelter.
They came in mid-June and we estimated the Mom to be two to three years old. She’s an unusually pretty cat, and is a long hair dilute calico/Siamese/Manx mix. Her four kittens were all normal-tailed and were all very vocal (a typical Siamese trait).
Clarice is tailless and appears to have strong Manx characteristics. She took very good care of her babies and they’ve all grown up happy and healthy. She and her red tabby son (Topaz) are the only ones left waiting for their furever home.
