Oh my…have we got some sweethearts for y’all this week!
Our doggie of the week is Bernadette (Bernie, to her friends, and she’d sure like for you to be one).

Bernie and her babies were dumped in a rural area and eventually ended up at Have A Heart Pet Shelter. Bernie is a Doodle of some sort. We’re guessing Bernadoodle (Bernese Mountain Dog Poodle), but that’s just a guess. She’s a fairly big girl at around 55 pounds and is estimated to be about 2-3 years old.
Bernie is very good in her kennel, quiet and clean, so we consider her to be housebroken. She is happy and active when out of her kennel and would probably enjoy an active home, or at least one where she can get plenty of exercise. Bernie has been through enough in her young life and deserves to be someone’s treasured pet. If you have room in your heart for this fuzzy girl, please come meet her at the Shelter.
Sadly, Bernadette and her puppies are in no way unique. We have more dumped and abandoned animals in our area than shelters can care for. Have A Heart has partnered with Bisselll Pet Foundation to offer spays and neuters through their Fix the Future program for $25 per pet (including core vaccines, if needed). It’s a very popular program and we are booked out for a month or more with a long wait list, but we have added some clinic dates and have been approved to continue the program into 2025! Please help us end the cycle by getting your pets spayed or neutered. Also, please note, this program is available for both dogs and cats.
Our kitty of the week is Mazie!

Mazie was surrendered with her brother who, amazingly, got adopted just a few minutes after arriving at the Shelter.
Unfortunately, this meant that this little girl lost her home and her brother all on the same day, She was scared and even angry for the first few days. She hissed at anybody who came near her. After decompressing, she realized it was going to be okay and now she is a talkative, curious little girl. We were told one of their parents was a Maine Coon and her brother did look like it but Mazie does not. She is a pretty gray tabby about six months old and is looking for a new loving forever home.
If you’d like to meet Bernie, Mazie, or any of our other adoptables….or if you want to get your pets on the waiting list for the spay/neuter program, please call Have A Heart at 870/449-7387 or drop by the Shelter at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Thank you all for your continued support of Have A Heart!
