Meet Audrey!
Audrey is a 1 ½ year old Anatolian Shepherd mix that originally came to Have A Heart in October 2023 as a four-month-old pup. She was adopted very quickly by a young couple but they returned her to the Shelter in late September 2024. They had recently had a baby and Audrey was not adjusting well.
The previous owner reported that she is kennel trained and housebroken. She was also reported to be a digger and destructive with toys. They felt she was just too rowdy for their small house, especially with the new baby.
Audrey does not like shelter life. She is protective of her kennel, but as soon as you take her outside or into the office/thrift store area of the Shelter, she turns into a completely different dog. She becomes friendly, happy, and playful.
Audrey needs to find a new home, one with a fenced in yard, older children, and maybe even another dog that can teach her the house rules. She previously lived with other dogs but has not lived with cats. She does know a few basic commands such as sit, stay, and shake.
If you would like to visit Audrey, we will introduce you to her outside of the kennel area where she is much more sociable and loving. She is a beautiful dog that needs a different environment in which to thrive.
Our cats of the week are Smokey and Twinkle!
This mother/daughter pair was surrendered to the Shelter at the end of March. Their owner had to return home to South Africa for family reasons and it was not feasible to take her beloved pets with her due to restrictive quarantine regulations. She was heartbroken but relieved (and even cried with relief) when we told her we would take them and find them good homes.
Smokey was a dumped stray that showed up four years ago. They didn’t realize she was pregnant at the time and she had three kittens in April 2021. She has since been spayed and is a beautiful gray cat.
Twinkle is Smokey’s kitten from 2021 and is a long-haired black cat.
They are very attached to each other as they have only known their previous owner. It’s been a little difficult for them to adjust to shelter life because it’s so busy here. They’re understandably a little scared and confused, but we believe they would really come out of their shells in a home setting.
Please consider giving these girls a fresh start. Since they’ve been at the Shelter for almost nine months, we are willing to adopt both out for a single $50 adoption fee.
If you’d like to meet Audrey, Smokey, and Twinkle or any of our other adoptables, please call Have A Heart at 870/449-7387 or stop by the Shelter at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. We hope to see you soon!
