Our Pet of the Week is Reno!
Reno is a handsome 4-6 year old boy who is a cur mix. His owner’s health failed and he was brought to us along with several other dogs from the same home. When he came in he weighed under 30 pounds and was very thin. We think he was too timid to fight for his food in his previous home and perhaps he was the most dominated dog there.
In his time with us at Have A Heart, he has been putting on weight and is up to 45 pounds and looks wonderful! He is a little timid at first but warms up to people quickly. He has tested heartworm positive and is under treatment for it currently. Other than that, he is very healthy.
Reno went immediately into a foster home where there were many dogs, a cat, horses, chickens, and ducks. He got along great with all of the animals except one duck. He didn’t hurt the duck but he sure wore it out playing with it.
There are also small children in the foster home and he is very good with them. He walks carefully around them and doesn’t push or jump on them. Reno is very loved by the foster family because of his sweet disposition, his obvious affection for all of the family members, and his wonderful manners.
He wasn’t housebroken when he arrived but was very quick to learn. He no longer has accidents in the house. He does not jump up on people and walks very well on a leash. He is an extremely social dog and likes everyone he meets.
Reno would make a wonderful family dog from everything we learned while he was in the foster home. He is just the sweetest boy!
