Spring is certainly a hectic time of year. At Have a Heart, we have recently taken in a lot of puppies and kittens. This happens year round, but more so in the spring. It has been crazy busy this past week, so we are not featuring any specific pets for adoption in this week’s article. We’ve been working on details for our springtime fund raiser. Bark in the Park will be held May 19th in the Yellville City Park. Some of the activities that are planned include the Parade of Pets around the walking path, a pet costume contest, pet/owner look-alike contest, a tail wagging contest and a kissing booth. We will also have vendors, presentations from the North Arkansas Kennel Club and some therapy dogs. Hours for the event are 9am to 1 pm. If you would like to participate with your dog, you will need to register for the event. We encourage you to pre-register if possible. This will help us know how many t-shirts we need and give us some idea of how many people to expect. Registration is $20.00 and includes a t-shirt for you and a bandana for your pooch. You can pick up a registration form at the shelter, or download it from our website, www.haveaheartpetshelter.org. To keep things manageable we ask that you only bring one dog per person. There are some common sense rules for this event which can be viewed on the registration form. Some of these rules include: Your dog must be current on all vaccines and leashed at all times. It’s your responsibility to clean up after your dog, if need be. Bags and disposal stations will be available. No dogs under 4 months old, and no females in heat. We want this to be a fun day with no stress or drama. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, but in case there is bad weather, our rain date is May 26th. Come on out and support the shelter, whether you bring a dog or not. Personally, I am so thankful that we have this awesome shelter in our county after years of not having a reliable resource to help care for and re-home unwanted animals. I think we have a great group of board members and volunteers, and with community support can continue our mission for many years to come. C’mon out on the 19th and support out Shelter.
