Pets of the Week

Hello to all our readers from us here at Have A Heart Pet Shelter!

Our dog of the week is Rocco!

This handsome young man is Rocco. He came to the shelter after he was found wandering on his own about ten miles south of Yellville. We estimate that he is a young adult (under two years old) and he is mostly black with a white chest and a short, sleek coat. Rocco appears to be a terrier mix and is an athletic 58 pounds.

He has kept his kennel clean so we assume he would be easy to house train. He does get excited when in his kennel but is a very good boy out on his walks and has been friendly with the other dogs he has met here at the Shelter.

Rocco adores people and getting pets from the volunteers. He will need a home where he can get a fair amount of exercise. We think he would make a great hiking or running partner. Because of this enthusiasm when playing, a similar sized playmate might be best. He would love to meet you and let you pet him and love on him!

We’ve got a “kitten palooza” going!

Our cats of the week are Smokey and Twinkle!

This mother/daughter pair was surrendered to the Shelter at the end of March. Their owner had to return home to South Africa for family reasons and it was not feasible to take her beloved pets with her due to restrictive quarantine regulations. She was heartbroken but relieved (and even cried with relief) when we told her we would take them and find them good homes.

Smokey was a dumped stray that showed up four years ago. They didn’t realize she was pregnant at the time and she had three kittens in April 2021. She has since been spayed and is a beautiful gray cat.

Twinkle is Smokey’s kitten from 2021 and is a long-haired black cat.

They are very attached to each other as they have only known their previous owner. It’s been a little difficult for them to adjust to shelter life because it’s so busy here. They’re understandably a little scared and confused, but we would believe they would probably really come out of their shells in a home setting. However, they do not have to be adopted together. Please consider giving one or both of these girls a fresh start.

And, finally, we’d like to give a “shout out” to All Pet & Equine Supply in Mountain Home. They have hosted adoptable cats and kittens for us in the past and are welcoming them again in their brand new location at 67 Basswood Drive (next door to Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply). They will be having a Grand Opening in early May (check their Facebook page) and we will have additional kittens for that event. Pictured below are some of those we’ll be showing off there!

If you’d like to meet Rocco, Smokey, Twinkle, or any of our other adoptables, give us a call at 870/449-7387 or visit the Shelter at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm.
