Pets Of The Week

Pets of the Week

Three years ago, on March 1st, 2016, things greatly improved for the less fortunate animals in our area. That was the date Have a Heart Pet Shelter opened. The Shelter was originally located on Highway 62 between Flippin and Yellville. It was not the best building, but the volunteers did what needed to be done to make things work. We resided in that building until July 2017. Then, thanks to the generosity of three major donors who donated over $150,000.00, we were able to move into the new building located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. It was like a dream come true. In the three years since opening, HAH has made outstanding progress in addressing the animal welfare needs of Marion County. Since opening, HAH has taken in 760 animals, adopted 480 pets, transported 183 animals out of state and returned 29 to their original owners. In addition, the Shelter also provided space for the Spay and Neuter Clinic to sterilize 1288 animals and assisted the Community Cat Project in distributing vouchers and traps so 366 community cats could be sterilized. HAH also worked with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to convict an animal abuser on cruelty charges. All of this was accomplished through the hard work of the Shelter’s volunteers.

In celebration of our first three years in operation, we are featuring multiple pets as Pet of the Week. These animals have been with us for an extended period of time and HAH would really like to see them find loving permanent homes. The featured cats are Tink, Harley, Bijou, Davey and Mickey. Featured dogs are Jackson, Moose, Walker and Marley. Their adoption fees have been reduced to $25.00 for featured cats and $50.00 for featured dogs until the end of March. In addition, some of these pets have sponsors who are willing to contribute half of the adoption fees to help these fur babies find their new homes. You can see descriptions of these animals on www.petfinder.com, www.haveaheartpetshelter.org or visit the shelter for a personal “meet and greet”. This is a great deal considering all our animals are up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered, heart worm negative (dogs) and FeLV/FIV negative (cats), microchipped and treated for worms, fleas and ticks. Thank you to the fantastic community members that have supported us so much during these first three years. With continued community support, the next three years are going to be even more wonderful and exciting.  Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Shelter and Thrift Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 3 pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
