Pets Of The Week

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 8th, and plan on attending our first major fundraiser of the year – Bark in the Park(ing) Lot!  We have now decided to hold this fun event right at Have a Heart Pet Shelter. We were unable to host any fundraising events last year, so our Have a Heart volunteers are looking forward to seeing and visiting with our supporters and the community at this event. We will have a pet costume contest, a parade of pets, tail wagging contest and more.  New this year is a “Spin the Wheel” game! Purchase spins and try your luck at different prizes. There will be food available and the Thrift Store will be having a big yard sale the same day. We hope to see you there. The rain date is May 15th, just in case Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate with our plans.

We had a good week for adoptions at HAH. Dogs Boscoe and JayCee were adopted. A sweet senior dog named Precious, went to her new home, as well as last week’s featured Lab pup named Meg. Kitten sisters Sasha and Alicia were adopted together and handsome Whiskey went to his new home. Best wishes to all these fur-babies in their new homes.

Princess is our featured dog for the week. Princess is a 3-4 year old, solid black Dachshund /terrier mix. She was recently surrendered by her owners due to a change in family status. She is a very sweet little girl that is a bit shy at first, but gets along with adults, dogs and cats.  She weighs in at 34 lbs.  Princess is housebroken, walks well on a leash and is generally quiet. She will sit on command for a treat and only barks when new people come around. Princess would be a great companion for an older individual or couple.

Our featured cat for the week is a handsome little guy named Deuces. Deuces is about a year old and he is white with black spots. He was surrendered to the Shelter with his dog buddy after an unfortunate change in living situation of his owners. Deuces got along with his dog brother, but he’s not too sure about new dogs. He would probably get along with them if given time to adjust. We did a dog test at the shelter and his tail was puffed up so impressively it was amazing! Deuces gets along with the other cats in the cattery and enjoys playing with his toys.

You can meet Deuces, Princes and our other adoptable pets at Have a Heart Pet Shelter, located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Thursday through Saturday 9 am to 3 pm. Phone 870-443-7387.
