Special Event

First, thank you to those who responded to our SOS for new volunteers in last week’s column. We appreciate you and all the support we get from the community. We could not do what we do without you. But we are still in need of more volunteers so if you can give us a few hours a week, please contact us at the information included at the end of this article. Your reward will be an abundance of tail wags, purrs, and sloppy canine/feline kisses!

One of our major fundraisers is quickly upon us….the Sixth Annual Soup and Chili Supper plus Cake and Pie Auction! We have a new location this year, which will be at the Marion County Fairgrounds Community Building located in Summit. The hours are 5-8 pm on Saturday, November 19 with tickets available for purchase at the Shelter or at the door that evening. For a mere $7, here’s what you get…

  • Live music by local band “Crooked Creek” (bluegrass)

  • Soup or chili (with crackers or cornbread)

  • Beverages provided (soda, tea, water, and lemonade)

  • Small dessert (cookies or brownies)

  • And don’t forget…you can bid on homemade cakes/pies and stock up for your family Thanksgiving dinner!!

So bring your wallet, appetite, and an interest in meeting your neighbors who are also supporting our Have a Heart Pet Shelter!

Pet of the Week

This week, Punkin is our star! Punkin arrived at the shelter on October 15, as a young stray who tried to move in with a family who had older cats that just would not accept him and kept running him off. He’s about six months old so we guessed his DOB is approximately 5/10/22. Punkin is a lively and friendly red tabby youngster. He loves cuddles but is not overly vocal.

Since it’s the Thanksgiving season, why not bring a cute pumpkin named “Punkin” into your home to share the love and blessings?!

Have a Heart is a small non-profit animal rescue organization. If you’d like to meet Punkin or any of our other adoptables, or if you’d like to become a volunteer, please shoot us a message on here, call the Shelter at 870-449-7387, or come see us at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville, Arkansas. Please remember that due to our current shortage of volunteers, our voicemail is turned off but we will answer the phone during our open hours, which currently are Wednesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm.
