Pets of the Week
Have a Heart held their 4th Annual Soup and Chili Dinner fundraiser and pie and cake aution last Saturday evening. Once again, the wonderful folks in our community came out to support our Shelter. It was a great evening. It looked to be the largest turnout we’ve had yet for this event. The Have a Heart family is so grateful to everyone that helped make this event such a huge success. Thanks to Terry and Brady Madden for allowing us to use their building for the evening. It’s a perfect location with plenty of space and equally important, plenty of electrical outlets for all the crock-pots full of soup and chili. Thanks to Rio for an evening of enjoyable music. Thanks to all the cooks who donated homemade soup and chili and baked a wide array of delicious looking cakes and pies. Thanks to Tommy Dean Johnson for being our auctioneer. Thanks to Pepsi Co. and Hiland Dairy for beverage donations. Thanks to Black Sheep Barbeque for donating cheese and oyster crackers to accompany the soup and chili and all the yummy brownies. Thanks to Rhianna’s House of Hair for donating many desserts in addition to a basket for the silent auction. Thanks to all the restaurants, businesses and private individuals who donated items for the silent auction. We are truly blessed to live amongst so many big hearted, generous folks who not only support Have a Heart, but many other not for profit organizations that help the less fortunate in our area.
Sweet Patti is our featured kitty for this week. Patti is a beautiful black and white kitten who was brought to the shelter as a stray. She’s a curious and playful little girl estimated to be about 2½ months old. Patti loves lots of attention and playing with the other kittens in the cattery. She is quiet and would love a warm lap to cuddle on while enjoying some petting. Patti is sharing a kennel with Denny, a flame point Siamese who was featured several weeks ago. They get along great with Denny being like a big brother to Patti. It would be fantastic if this bonded pair could be adopted together. They will entertain you with their kitty antics. Stop by Have a Heart to meet Patti, Denny and our other adoptable cats and kittens.
This week’s featured dog is Duke. Duke is a cute little guy that was found as a stray. He looks like he might be a beagle mix, but that’s just a guess. Duke is spunky and has lots of character. He walks well on a leash and is full grown, so won’t be a big guy. Duke gets along well with most dogs and he is housebroken. Duke sometimes has an attitude with larger male dogs and may have some Napolean syndrome to deal with. Duke is very playful with a sweet personality. He appears to have some interest in cats, so might not do well sharing his home with a cat. You can meet Duke and our other adoptable dogs during regular Shelter hours, Tuesday through Saturday 9am – 3pm. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Phone 870-449-7387.
