Pets of the Week
What a busy week for the Shelter! The first low cost spay/neuter clinic for 2020 is being held this week. We anticipate sterilizing 150 cats and dogs. What a great way to go into Spring – by reducing the number of breeding animals in the Twin Lakes area! The next clinic will be held in July with registration beginning in May. We will post registration dates within a few weeks. In addition, fifteen puppies and an adult dog were transported out-of-state Monday to a shelter in Missouri where they will be spayed/neutered and adopted. Ten adult dogs are leaving Thursday on transport to a no-kill shelter on the East coast where most have been pre-adopted. Transporting dogs out-of-state to areas that have uncrowded shelters and high adoption rates is one of the most important things we do, and the vehicle we use for this and for transporting animals to the vet is at the end of its life. In order to continue to accomplish this important work, the shelter is soliciting funds to purchase a transport van. We will have details about fundraising for this vehicle soon.
We are not featuring a specific dog or cat this week. Because we transported 11 adult dogs, you will be seeing a lot of new faces at the shelter this weekend. We have a long waiting list for dogs to come in and will be bringing in a wonderful lab mix named Mr. Wiggles, a couple of Heeler mixes named Doll and Cash, and have four small Jack Russell mixes waiting for spots at the shelter. You can meet our adoptable pets during our regular hours Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Phone 870-449-7387.
