Pets Of The Week

We have good news this week. We have confirmed that the Volunteer Low Cost Spay and Neuter clinic scheduled for July will be held at Have a Heart Pet Shelter in Yellville as planned. Due to the pandemic, this time we will register by telephone. We are registering now, so please call the shelter and leave a message with your name, telephone number and information for the pets you need sterilized (dog or cat). We will return your call. Our shelter, including the thrift store, is still closed due to COVID-19, but we anticipate opening again very soon with social distancing practices in place. Until then, we are continuing to adopt dogs and cats by appointment, so please check our website Haveaheartpetshelter.org, Petfinder, Petango, Adopt-a-Pet or Pet Harbor to see the new faces. Contact us to schedule an appointment if you think you have found your new best friend.

Our featured dog this week is a 6-year-old Chihuahua mix named Sinbad. This boy is housetrained, very outgoing and would be a great lap dog. He apparently has not spent much time on a leash but loves going for walks and is easy to handle. He seems to get along well with other dogs. We are not sure about cats, but he has not shown much interest when we walk him past the cats in our catio.

This week we are featuring Cleo, a pretty rust and brown tortoise tabby who is about four years old. This poor girl was an unwanted stray, undernourished and a little shy. She has been at the shelter for only a few weeks but is slowly blossoming into a gentle loving soul. She appreciates any scrap of attention she is given, and her coat is becoming quite beautiful. If you are interested in adopting, please call the shelter to set up an appointment to come in.

We anticipate that our Thrift Store will be opening soon, and we plan to hold a big outdoor yard sale to celebrate our re-opening. We appreciate all donations (except for clothing or shoes), and 100% of the proceeds of the sales are used to care for our shelter animals. We ask that donations be placed in the marked bins outside of our building. Our volunteers will retrieve the donations daily. The temporary closing of the Thrift Store has greatly reduced the financial support received for covering the costs of veterinary care and the overhead necessary to maintain the building. As we do not receive public taxes or funding, we appreciate any contributions you are able to make. Contributions may be made via PayPal or by mail to P.O. Box 1030, Yellville, AR 72687. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Phone 870-449-7387.
