Pets Of The Week

All the volunteers and pets at Have a Heart were grateful for the return of warmer temperatures and disappearance of snow last week. Our dogs and dog walkers didn’t have to battle deep snow or slippery conditions. Our kitties were glad to get out in their Catio for some sunshine and fresh air. The rain and mud is a cakewalk after the crazy weather we had a couple weeks ago. There were no adoptions last week, but we did send 8 dogs on transport to Massachusetts where they all had families awaiting their arrival.

The dates for the first Low cost Spay and Neuter Clinic of 2021 are quickly approaching. The clinic was originally planned for February, but was rescheduled due to concerns over Covid-19. It looks like everything is a go for the rescheduled dates of March 30th-April 1st.  We have a list of people who were scheduled to bring their pets for the February dates. We will begin calling those folks this week to register them for the new dates. We will post in this article and on Facebook if there are any remaining appointments available after we get through the list of folks that had previously registered.

Cute little Fin is this week’s featured dog. Fin is a young male terrier mix weighing about 30 pounds. He was originally found as a stray. A kind lady took him home to care for him when no one appeared to be looking for him. She lived in an apartment and could not keep him. He was very frightened so the first couple of days at the Shelter he growled at everyone. Now he is becoming more social. Once he warms up to you he is very playful. Fin walks well on a leash and harness. He loves interacting with the other dogs and he’s housebroken. Fin will be ready for adoption after he is neutered. He will need to go to someone who can be patient with him, as it will take some time for him to adjust after what he’s been through. He is a small boy and might be good for an older couple that needs to fill their “empty nest”.

This week’s featured kitty is Whiskey. Whiskey was found in Oakland, Arkansas and has not been claimed. The kind man who found him, fed and cared for him while trying to locate his owner. He was unable to keep him permanently, so Whiskey ended up at the Shelter. Whiskey is a gorgeous, mellow, friendly red tabby with a wonderful disposition. His fur is a vivid red color. He is estimated to be about 2 years young. Whiskey gets along well with the other cats in the cattery and is calm around children. If you are interested in adopting Whiskey, Fin, or any of our other adoptable pets, call Have a Heart to schedule an appointment for a meet and greet. Our pets can be viewed on our website,  www.haveaheartpetshelter.org, on Petfinder, Adopt a Pet, Petango, and Pet Harbor. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Phone 870-449-7387.
