Pets Of The Week

Last week was another good week for adoptions at Have a Heart Pet Shelter. Four of our cute little fur-ball kitties found their purr-fect homes. Devon, Peter, Shelby and Duffy were the fortunate felines who went home with their new families. A young pup named Isabella, Lulu  and Husky mix, Koda, also found their new homes. You can see pictures of the fur-babies and their new people on our Facebook page.

Our featured dog for this week is a cute, 6 year old Chihuahua/terrier mix named Coley. This boy is affectionate, gets along with adults and children, is fine with other dogs, and he is housebroken. Coley loves pizza (the pointy part) and squeaky toys, but hates the meter man, men in ball caps and thunderstorms. His people are moving to Alaska and cannot take him. They are heartbroken, but trust that Have a Heart will help their boy find a new loving home.

This week’s featured cat is named Morris. Morris is also known as the KFC cat since he was always hanging around the parking lot by Kentucky Fried Chicken in Mountain Home. Many of the customers from KFC were familiar with Morris and would share food with him. The manager at the Dollar General did not feel like the parking lot was a safe environment for him, so she found someone to foster Morris while she tried to find a home for him. Several people expressed interest in adopting him, but no one followed through. After being unsuccessful finding a home for this boy, his rescuers contacted HAH, and the Shelter took him in. While being fostered, Morris was neutered through the Community Cat Project. This kind lady from Dollar General was also very generous paying additional vet costs to help this kitty find a good home. Morris is a red Tabby with white chest and feet. He is a good sized cat, weighing about 10 pounds and estimated to be 1-2 years young. Like all the felines adopted from HAH, Morris is up to date on vaccines, Leukemia/FIV tested Negative, treated for parasites and on flea and tick prevention. His foster mom said he has been a perfect cat in the time she’s cared for him. He is affectionate, confidant, talkative and loves people. He is pretty good with other cats, but he dislikes dogs. Morris is a handsome, very sweet boy who will make someone a great companion.

You can meet Morris, Coley and our other adoptable pets at Have a Heart, located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9am – 3pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
