Pets of the Week

It has been a very busy couple of weeks at the Have a Heart Pet Shelter! Four of our dogs left for Massachusetts where they were met by their new families, and 18 puppies were transported to the Humane Society of Missouri. Dogs Lucy, Lady, Bella, Dixie and O’Henry all found loving adopters, and kitties Me-Me, Banjo, Simba, Sunny, Timmy, Tiffany, Smoosh, Little Bit, Pepper, Anna, Jenny and Gypsy went to new homes. Little Bear was reunited with his owner. Unfortunately, there are always many homeless dogs and cats waiting to get into the Shelter (our waiting list is very long), and as usual, our kennels are full. If you are looking for a furry companion, please check our website haveaheartpetshelter.org or call the Shelter to make an appointment to view the adoptable pets.

The very best thing we can all do to improve the homeless pet situation in our community is to have our own pets spayed and neutered. The shelter is hosting the 3rd Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic of 2021 on September 21st-23rd; however, all slots are fully booked. We continue to add some animals to a waiting list since we always have some last-minute cancellations. You can have your name added to the waiting list by calling the Shelter at 870-449-7387.

Our featured dog of the week is Shy, a darling female Shepherd mix who is approximately 8 months old. She and her brother Suspect were brought to the shelter by a rescuer who had acquired the dogs when their owner was evicted for having too many pets. Shy is a very calm, loving dog who now walks well on a leash and is quickly becoming house broken. She has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. As with all dogs at the shelter, she has been started on heartworm and flea and tick preventatives.

Our featured kittens are Emily and her brother Johnny. These cuties were rescued from under a woodpile in Strawberry Fields when a dog flushed them out. They came to us when they were only two weeks old and went to a foster home to get bigger and stronger. They are well-socialized, very playful, and irresistibly cuddly. Little Johnny gives lick-kisses and will jump up on you upon command. They play fight and snuggle together. They could be adopted together or individually.

Due to sky-rocketing Covid-19 cases in our area, we are doing adoptions by appointment. If you would like to meet Shy, Johnny, Emily or any of our pets, call Have a Heart at 870-449-7387 to schedule an appointment. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville.
