Pets Of The Week

Pet of the Week

Summer sure seems to be passing quickly. I can’t believe August is here and the kids will be back to school soon. It’s been busy at the shelter, as usual. We have almost completed construction of our quarantine/isolation kennels. Thanks to the volunteers for their hard work on this project. All of the dogs that were transported to Massachusetts last month have been adopted. (Yay!!)Their owners shared photos and told us what great dogs they are. You can see some pictures on our Facebook page. If you follow us on Facebook, be sure to like and share the posts. More exposure gives our pets a better chance of being adopted and helps us raise funds. All of our expenses are covered with donations and all the helpers and board members are volunteers. When you “Keep it Local”, you can see firsthand the difference your donation of time or money makes.

Our featured kitty gets the top spot this week. Meet Kara. Miss Kara is an adorable young cat (estimated DOB October 2017) and has already been through a tough time. She was living in a hoarding situation in Searcy County. After being rescued, she was brought to Clinton, Ar. Despite her young age, she was pregnant. Because she was so small her kittens were delivered by C-section in March 2018. She was spayed at the same time. She arrived at Have a Heart in mid-June with four adorable baby boys in tow. She is a sweet, petite, pretty gray kitty. She gets along with the other cats at the shelter, but she’s ready to find herself a fur-ever home. Can you find room in your heart and your home for this special little girl and give her the life she deserves?

Our featured dog for the week is Kanon. Best guess for his breed is German Shorthaired Pointer & Plott Hound Mix. Kanon is an elegant medium sized dog with a stunning chocolaty brindle coat, golden eyes and long, silky soft ears. Approximately 4-5 yrs old, weighing 48 lbs. he’s in great condition and he’s an active dog. Kanon walks easily on leash, has cute white toes all around and a short docked tail. Kanon was an unclaimed stray from Summit Animal Control. He’s a very nice boy with an alert, but fairly calm disposition and has a nice personality with other dogs and with people. Cats are an unknown. You can meet Kanon, Kara and our other adoptable pets during our regular hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9am – 3pm. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville.
