Pets Of The Week

Pets of the Week

First thing this week, Have a Heart’s board members and volunteers would like to give a big thank you to our community for all the great support we receive. Here’s a few examples of the support we get; Last week‘s article mentioned we needed kitten food and by Tuesday we had a good supply to help feed the new kittens that were taken in. There was a young gal named Katie who came into the Shelter last week with a generous donation. She had a birthday party and chose to collect donations for Have a Heart Pet Shelter, instead of receiving presents.  What a sweetheart! Anstaff Bank in Flippin chose HAH as the organization to receive a donation of funds collected from employees who participate in their Thursday Jean Club. If they want to wear jeans on Thursdays they donate $2 to a fund. Then they get to choose a charity! Thanks for choosing Have a Heart. We appreciate your generosity. We could not continue to help the less fortunate animals in our area without the wonderful support from our community.

We had a great week for adoptions. Pups Wendy, Toffee, Sugar and Jacob were adopted along with Simon, the kitty who was featured last week. Good luck in your new homes sweet babies.

If you have not been to Have a Heart lately, you may want to stop by and browse our Thrift Store. We have new merchandise all the time. We have some fall decorations for sale and after next week’s Spay and Neuter Clinic we will be displaying our Christmas and winter items. The gals who tend the Thrift Store work hard to keep things organized and neatly displayed. There are a lot of good bargains to be had. All of the money from merchandise sales goes to the care of our Shelter animals. We also have tickets for sale at the Shelter for our upcoming Soup and Chili Dinner fundraiser on November 23rd.

Our featured dog for this week is lovely Rita. Rita is a sweet shy girl, about 2 years old and weighs about 25 pounds. She appears to be a mix of heeler/Australian Cattle Dog but also looks a lot like a Jack Russell. She was surrendered by her previous owners because they had too many animals. Rita is very well behaved, loves to sit by your side and be petted. She is learning to walk on a leash and does better when she’s wearing a harness. Rita has also been doing well with house breaking. Rita is a good girl who will make a wonderful pet for some lucky person.

This week’s featured feline is Kitty Purry. Sweet, shy Kitty is a calm house cat from Mountain Home.  Her elderly owners had to surrender her along with her 3 kitty siblings as they were going into assisted living and could not take their beloved pets. Kitty is a beautiful brown tabby about 2 yrs of age. She is quiet and gentle. She loves to get belly rubs and has a cute quiet meow. It is very confusing to her to lose her home. She would be a good companion for an older person, but could also be a great family pet.  Stop by Have a Heart to meet Kitty, Rita and our other adoptable pets. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
