Pets Of The Week

Pets of the Week

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Have a Heart Thrift Store. Check out the selection of holiday decorations and gifts that are available at bargain prices in our Thrift Store before you hit the big box store. As an added bonus, the money from all sales goes to help care for our Shelter animals. In this season of giving, the Have a Heart family would like to remind folks that giving a gift of a puppy, kitten, dog or cat may not be a good idea. The novelty of having a new pet can wear off quickly when the recipient realizes how much care is involved, the expense of owning a pet, the time required to house train a pet and the commitment required for successful behavioral training. You should never give the gift of a pet without first knowing that the recipient really wants a pet. If that’s the case, you may want to consider a Shelter pet. All of Have a Heart’s adoptable pets are fully vetted and micro-chipped. The cost of adopting from a shelter or rescue is quite a bit less than buying from a breeder or taking a free puppy or kitten and then having to pay for shots and to have the animal sterilized. Plus the person receiving the pet can visit the shelter or rescue and get to know the animal and make sure they are a good fit for their home.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, this week’s featured kitten is named Holly.  Holly is one of six kittens that were abandoned at the Shelter on a very cold night. She has recovered from the trauma of being dumped and is now looking for her fur-ever home. Holly is a beautiful grey and white kitten who is curious and playful. She loves lots of attention and playing with her brothers and sisters. Holly is very affectionate and will nibble on your hair and whisper kitty talk in your ear. She has a great purr motor and will give kitten licks (kisses) on your cheek. Stop by the Shelter to meet this sweet little kitten. After what she’s been through, she deserves to grow up in a loving permanent home.

Sage is this week’s featured dog. Sage is a calm, pretty girl who came to us as an unclaimed stray from animal control. She is about a year and a half old and looks like she could be part mountain cur. Sage is a bit timid and shy at first. She loves to play and would do well in an active household. She is learning to walk on a leash and is also doing well with house training. She chases cattle so she would not do well unsupervised on a farm. She gets along well with most of the other dogs. You can meet Sage and all of our other adoptable pets by visiting the Shelter during our regular hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Phone 870-449-7387.
