Pets Of The Week

The past week was super busy for the Have a Heart volunteers. Kitties Cleo, Athena, Fantasia, Winchester and Hot Lips Houlihan were adopted by their new families. Legend, Elvira and Sugar were the lucky dogs who found their fur-ever homes. Good luck to these fur babies with their new families. In addition to adoptions, our volunteers readied 18 puppies for transport out of state where they will have a better chance at adoption in a larger metropolitan area. It’s a lot of work to ready the pups for transport. They all need to be wormed, vaccinated and obtain health certificates. On some of the trips to meet the transport vehicle, our volunteers leave the Shelter at 4:30 a.m. That’s dedication. We would not have to transport so many puppies out of state if more pet owners would spay or neuter their pets to help prevent unwanted litters.

Last week HAH received a donation from the Arvest Foundation. We plan on using the funds to start preparing our outdoor holding kennels for winter. We have wanted to do these improvements for some time, but a big donation makes it more feasible. Thanks to the folks at Arvest Bank for making us a beneficiary.

This week instead of featuring one adoptable cat, we’re having Kitty-Palooza and featuring a plethora of pussy cats. These cuties have been in foster homes because they were too young and needed special care. They are now at the Shelter and looking for their purr-ever homes. We have male and females in various colors. Three of them are polydactyl boys, meaning they have extra toes on all their feet!  Now the hard part – choosing your favorite! Stop by the Shelter and visit our cattery where you can have a meet and greet to decide which kitty would be best suited for your home. We do not have a featured pup this week. The dog we had planned on featuring was adopted.

We will post the dates on Facebook and in this article once we get a good weekend when the weather will cooperate.  Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
