Pet Of The Week

As we look optimistically into the New Year, many of the challenges we faced in 2020 continue in 2021. Since last spring Have a Heart has been operating with a small core group of dedicated volunteers. We limited our hours of operation, closed the Thrift Store and, as the pandemic worsened, switched to “appointment only” adoptions. This was done in an effort to limit the amount of exposure our volunteers have with the public. As Covid-19 numbers continue to increase, Have a Heart’s board members are considering further restrictions to keep our volunteers safe and able to continue caring for our fur-babies. At this point we may have to cancel or reschedule the Volunteer Low Cost Spay and Neuter clinic, which is supposed to happen in February. We will post any further updates on our website, Facebook page and in this article. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Last Saturday we had 8 dogs leave on transport to Massachusetts. All of these dogs had families awaiting their arrival! We also had several local adoptions. Blitz was the lucky dog who was adopted this week. Cats Maddie and Brooks were adopted together. Kittens Pepper and Mittens went home with their new families. Good luck to these fur-kids in their new homes.

We do not have a featured dog this week. Our featured cat is a senior kitty named Snow. Snow was brought to the Shelter when her owner moved and could not take her. She trusted Have a Heart to find a new home for her pet. This poor girl spent her entire life in the same house and is now a little confused about what happened. She is pure white with blue eyes, but hears just fine. She can be vocal and likes to talk to you, especially when she’s hungry. Snow was raised with dogs but has not lived with other cats. She would do best as the only feline in a quiet household. Because of her age, Snow is eligible for a senior discount. Her adoption fee is only $25.00. Call Have a Heart to schedule an appointment to meet Snow or any of our other adoptable pets. HAH’s adoptable pets can be seen on our website, www.haveaheartpetshelter.org, on Petfinder, Adopt a Pet, Petango, and Pet Harbor. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville.
