Pets of the Week

It was a great week for the fur-kids at Have a Heart Pet Shelter. Our Shelter volunteers helped 36 Animals on their way to a better life. We sent 23 puppies for Puppy Rescue to Humane Society of Missouri and 4 adult dogs went to meet their new families in Massachusetts.  Dog adoptions for this week were Stella, Shasta, Parker, Brad Pitt and Buddy. The lucky felines who went to their new homes were Valentino, Lois, Clark and Archie. Several of these adopters travelled a long distance to adopt our fur-kids. Archie went all the way to New Jersey, Buddy to Kankakee, IL, Shasta to Fayetteville and Parker to Shirley, AR. Thanks to the internet, people near and far can see what a great facility we have right here in Yellville, and are willing to travel to adopt our fur-kids.  Our volunteers do a great job caring for and finding homes for less fortunate animals in our area. At this time we are in need of a few more volunteers to help with day to day Shelter tasks – from the mundane (laundry, sweeping, cleaning kennels/litter boxes, etc) to the SUPER IMPORTANT (dog and cat care). If you are recently retired or have extra time on your hands, and are looking to reconnect with your community, CHECK US OUT! We have a passion for caring for the pets that have been thrown away or left behind. If you choose to volunteer, the most important thing to remember is to show up on the day and time that you volunteered for. We can use your help, whether it’s for one day a week, one day a month or just for special occasions, (Bark in the Park, Thrift Store Yard Sales, Spay and Neuter Clinics or Soup and Chili Dinner). Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience.

Carlo is our featured kitty for this week. Carlo is one of six siblings born to a Siamese mother. All of Carlo’s brothers and sisters have been adopted, and now it’s time for him to find his purr-fect home. Carlo is a young, healthy, playful kitten with a medium length coat. He has been in the Cattery from a young age and gets along well with the other cats. Although his Mama was Siamese, Carlo must take after his Daddy with his creamsicle Tabby markings.

This week’s featured dog is a young female Lab mix named Maisey. Maisey was dumped one night in one of our outside kennels. It’s obvious to our volunteers that whoever owned her didn’t take any time to train or socialize her. Maisy has a sweet and affectionate personality and loves getting attention. She is learning to walk on a leash and does better when she wears a harness. She can be a little shy at first with new people, but quickly warms up to them. Maisey would benefit from additional training and needs someone who can devote some time to her. She’s a smart girl and is eager to please. Maisey will be a great pet for someone who has the time to teach her all the things a good dog needs to know. She would do OK with older children, but probably has too much energy for toddlers or small children.

You can meet Maisey, Carlo and our other adoptable pets at Have a Heart, located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9am – 3pm. Phone 870-449-7387.
