Due to the increase of active Covid-19 cases in our community, the Board of Directors of Have a Heart Pet Shelter has voted to return to the Covid-19 policies we had in place last year. This include adoptions by appointment only, anyone inside the building will be required to wear a mask and the Thrift Store will be closed until Covid-19 cases are under control. This has been a very difficult decision for us to make, but please understand we are a 100% volunteer organization with most of our volunteers being retired individuals with underlying health conditions. We must take care of our own so that we may continue to provide the standard of care we have established for the Shelter animals. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
Nash is our featured dog for the week. Nash was found as a stray (North 14 area) a couple months ago and was brought to the Shelter because the person who found him had too many dogs. He is about 9 months old and weighs 35 pounds. He looks like he could possibly have some Dalmatian in him, but we are calling him a Hound since we have never seen a Dalmatian in Arkansas. Nash is as cute as can be. He is learning to walk on a leash and to be housebroken. He has a sweet personality and likes all people and other dogs. We are not sure how he behaves around cats. As with many of the young dogs who arrive at the Shelter, Nash would benefit from some additional training.
This week’s featured kitty is Tucker. Tucker is a striking black cat with golden eyes. He is a young adult estimated to be 1 ½ – 2 years of age. His previous owner had too many cats, so Tucker and his 3 tortie sisters came to the Shelter. They were used to being outdoor cats and have slowly adjusted to living inside. We were told that they were good Mousers, but we also know they are good couch potatoes! Tucker loves sitting on your lap and cuddling. He is a big softie! You can meet Tucker, Nash or our other adoptable pets by calling HAH to schedule an appointment for a meet and greet. Have a Heart is located at 657 Highway 202 in Yellville. Due to Covid-19, hours are by appointment only and the Thrift Store is temporarily closed. Phone 870-449-7387.
