Pets of the Week

This is shaping up to be another very busy week at Have a Heart Pet Shelter in Yellville. The Spay and Neuter Clinic runs from April 5-7 and has been fully booked for a long time. Each time we announce having clinic registration, interested parties need to call that day. Across three days we will spay/neuter approximately 120 animals. This is one of many services Have a Heart provides to our community, making it affordable for everyone to do the responsible thing to help prevent countless puppies and kittens that would often end up being abandoned. Also this week, on Wednesday, ten puppies will be leaving on a puppy transport to Northern Illinois, where they will be helped to find their forever homes. Plus we are getting six adult dogs ready to go to the East Coast to meet their new families on April 12.

Our featured dog this week is Sweet Boy, a two-year-old, Pyrenees Mix that currently weighs 51 pounds. Just like his names states, he is a sweet boy, but he is also very handsome. Found as a stray, Sweet Boy and his finders tried to locate his family to no avail. Good with other dogs and people of all ages, his only weakness is that he may accidentally knock a young child down only because he would be so excited. His favorite things are going for walks (he’s good on a leash) and just being an all round good-natured dog.

If you would like to meet Sweet Boy and some of our other dogs looking for someone to love, several will be attending the Egg-Stravaganza at Yellville City Park next Saturday to support the Yellville Food Closet and to see how they behave in a crowd of people. We will be there around 9 a.m.

Our featured cat this week is Sapphire. This petite little girl was found mid-January wandering around Flippin with only a purple flea collar and no name on it. She was not micro-chipped so have no way of knowing where she came from. We estimate her to be between one and two years old. She’s quiet, dignified and a little shy at first but then she adores cuddles. She is a gorgeous tiny black panther.

If you’d like to meet Sapphire, Sweet Boy, or any of our other furry friends, visit Have a Heart a Heart at 657 Hwy 202 West in Yellville, or call 870-449-7387. And don’t forget, April 23 is our annual Bark in the Park at the Pavilion in the Yellville City Park. Watch this space (and our Facebook page) for more details. It’s going to be terrific fun!
