Greetings animal lovers!
Last week, Have A Heart Pet Shelter once again hosted a three-day Volunteer Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. Approximately 120 dogs and cats were sterilized, meaning that 120 dogs and cats will not be producing unwanted litters and contributing to the pet overpopulation problem that plagues our community. The Shelter will be hosting two additional three-day clinics later this year on June18-20 and October 15-17. Please mark your calendars and these clinics are open to everyone and slots fill quickly. Call the Shelter at 870/449-7387 to get on the waiting list.
Additionally, the Shelter provides low cost sterilizations once a week onsite. However, slots for the weekly clinics are limited to low to moderate income families. Financial aid is available to qualified individuals, based on funding of the program. If you would like to make a contribution to the Spay/Neuter program, donations are always welcome and are critical to the continued success of the program
Cat of the Week
This week’s featured kitty is Chaucer (a sibling of a recently-featured kitty, Splash). The Shelter took them in after their elderly Mom fell and was unable to continue to live independently. Chaucer is a handsome red tabby who was born 3/22/21 making him almost three years old. Initially he was very shy and would hide from us but he is more relaxed now. He’s more vocal and loves lots of petting!
Chaucer has started to explore the safety of the enclosed Catio, where he can run back inside if he gets scared. He runs around playing in the Cattery with the other youngsters. Currently, his mom and siblings are there with him. He’s such a special boy once his eyes soften up. He offers a very special connection for someone who’s patient enough to gain his confidence.
If you’d like to make a donation to the Spay/Neuter program, meet Chaucer or any of our other adoptables, please call the Shelter at 870/449-7387 or drop by at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Hope to see you soon!
