Cat of the Week
This week we are featuring Suki! She is the mama to some recently featured kitties (Splash and Chaucer) and not-yet-featured kitties Buttermilk and Tracker. The Shelter took them in after the elderly human mom fell and had to go into assisted living. Her estimated date of birth is 12/15/20. Suki is a beautiful calico. She enjoys being petted and is ready to get her own forever home.
Dog of the Week
This is Penny, a very geriatric and overweight female Doxie who came to the Shelter because her owner died and no one wanted her. We know she must be sad to lose her beloved human so we hope to find her just the right individual or family to become hers!
As you can see, both of our featured pets this week became homeless due to their owners no longer able to care for them. This raises an issue that we like to periodically remind folks about. If you are older or in declining health there are always many things to plan for. One of those, sometimes overlooked in the multitude of other matters, is making arrangements for how your beloved pets will be cared for. For many of us, our furbabies are members of our family and deserve to be cared for after we’re gone. It’s a good idea to have this conversation with family members and/or caretakers so we can rest easy knowing the pets who have been so loyal and loving to us will continue to receive loving care when we can no longer provide it.
You can find several articles on the internet about how to provide for your furbabies in these circumstances. Please don’t wait until it’s too late to make your wishes known.
If you’d like to meet Suki, Penny, or any of our other adoptables, call the Shelter at 870/449-7387 or stop by and see us at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Hope to see you soon!
