Greetings from everyone at Have A Heart Pet Shelter!
Instead of featuring individual “Pets of the Week” today, we would like to help the people of our community (as well as those outside our community) have a better idea of what they should do if they find a stray dog and want to help.
If you live inside of city limits in Mountain Home, Bull Shoals, Flippin, Summit, or Yellville, you should first call your local animal control department. They are there to take strays within your city limits. We, at Have A Heart, cannot go out and pick up strays.
If you find the animal outside of city limits, you should contact your local shelter(s) to find out if anyone has called about a missing animal. A few of these are:
Have A Heart Pet Shelter
Gail’s Pets Second Chance
Humane Society of Marion County
Humane Society of North Central Arkansas
Ozark Humane Society (Boone County)
Marley’s World
Another place to check online is FindingRover.com.
You can also contact KTLO Radio and they will add it to their website under the Pet Rescue section which lists lost and found pets. They also read these over the air at various times.
Contacting local veterinarians’ offices is another possibility to find out if anyone has called to report a missing animal.
Another avenue is to post the animal on Facebook or other social media. And you can send a picture of the animal to our email and we will post it on our Facebook page. That email address is haveaheartpetshelter@gmail.com.
We understand all this can be overwhelming but, hopefully, some of this information will provide you with ways you might not have considered when trying to help a stray animal.
In the meantime, if you’d like to come meet our adoptable animals, please call Have A Heart at 870/449-7387 or stop by the Shelter at 657 Highway 202 West in Yellville during our normal business hours of Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. We’d also love to hear from you if you’d like to volunteer for the Shelter!
