I hope y’all were able to get outdoors and enjoy some of the warm weather we were blessed with earlier this week. What a treat for the first week of February! The volunteers at Have a Heart have been busy, as usual. We took in 3 puppies that were found down 14 South near Caney. They were under an abandoned house and had been seen along the roadside for a couple of days. As animal lovers, it’s hard to comprehend how someone could just leave these young’uns to fend for themselves. If you don’t want pups, have your pets spayed or neutered. It’s that simple. In our county there are more unwanted animals than available people to adopt them. Our Shelter is always full and HAH transports both puppies and adult dogs out of state where they have a better chance of being adopted. When you spay and neuter your pets, you become part of the solution to the problem of too many unwanted domestic pets.
Several of our fur-kids were adopted last week. Kitties Misha and Dreamer found their new families and a young dog named Teddy was adopted by his foster family. Teddy (now named Axel) was found left in a carrier out in a field. Thanks to his foster people for giving this cute pup the loving home he deserves.
Sherry is our featured kitty for this week. Sherry came to the Shelter as a stray with her 4 adorable kittens. The kittens have been adopted and now Sherry is waiting for her fur-ever home. She’s a beautiful cream color and is estimated to be about one year old. Sherry is extremely affectionate and calm, but can be playful at times. She takes everyone and everything in stride. Lots of sweet purr-sonality in this girl! Sherry is up to date on her vaccines; she’s been spayed and is ready to meet her new family. Our featured dog for this week is Bailey. Bailey was one of three dogs abandoned and living under a burned out trailer in Mountain Home with her puppy and another dog. She is a little thin, but putting on weight daily. We estimate her to be approximately 2 years old. She is gentle and a little shy, and is learning to walk on a leash. Bailey is getting better with her house-training. She can be choosey about her doggie friends. We’re not sure how she feels about cats. Bailey is spayed and up to date on her shots. All she needs now is a family to call her own.
